Its interesting how events from my everyday life can point the way to the next thought that I chose to share. This one is about “Authenticity”. I have found that as I mature (get older) I desire more and more to live in a more authentic way, a way that encompasses integrity, honesty and healthy boundaries. What I have also discovered is that the more I step into this place the more I find people push back and it seems that the three main reasons people may push back is due to fear, insecurity, and conditioning. However, it is important to remember that living authentically is a deeply personal choice, and one that can lead to greater fulfilment and happiness in life. When the push happens it can be even more challenging to “stay the path” and stay true to my choice and to who I am at the core as I know that ultimately this choice always leads to a more fulfilling and loving life.
What does living authentically look like? Living authentically involves speaking our own unique truth with integrity and honesty. When we speak from a place of authenticity, we are able to express our thoughts and feelings in a clear and genuine manner, without fear of judgment or rejection and if when we speak there are “shades” of these from others, then this is where the healthy boundaries come in. When we are able to hold the boundary and still speak from the place without ego, from the “I” this can lead to more meaningful and honest communication, both in our personal and professional lives. Furthermore, living authentically and as well as doing inner healing work can also cultivate inner calm and resiliency. By addressing and processing our deep emotional wounds, we can develop greater emotional regulation and self-control.
Living authentically and embracing my true self, not only has helped me develop a greater sense of purpose and meaning in my life it has also allowed me to create space within… where there were once “shadows” and unhealed wounds. This space and the healing (which is still ongoing) allows me to stay aligned with my values and core beliefs, ultimately this means that I live more in alignment with myself. Living authentically and doing inner healing work has had a profound impact on my life, leading to greater self-awareness, improved relationships, reduced stress and anxiety, increased confidence and self-esteem, greater resilience, enhanced creativity, and inner calm and resiliency. By no means is the work done for me, this is a daily choice one where I prioritise my growth, inner joyfulness and forgiveness and love.
My hope through writing this is that if you have not already started the journey to making the choice to live authentically, you may become inspired to take the most important “first step” and if you have already started down the road; know that you are not alone. Each one of you is seen, is valued and is heard when you speak from your heart… perhaps it is time to raise our voices together and tell our own stories…?
